Crochet School of Fish Afghan

I have had a hard time putting down my crochet hook lately. I finally completed my school of fish afghan last night. Crocheting the strips went fast and then I got bored with weaving the strips together and it sat around unfinished for a few months. Since I am trying to tie up lose ends (so to speak) and unfinished projects, I decided that a cold Florida day would be the perfect time to have a large afghan on my lap while sewing it all together. So, I am happy to say that it is complete, and also very warm to snuggle up in.

Crochet Flower Granny Squares

I taught myself to crochet at a very young age. It's amazing that some of the older crafts are in style again. I have wanted to teach myself how to crochet a flower granny square. So, yesterday I spent some quality time poolside and whipped up a few with left over yarn. I wasn't sure what I wanted to make but I think this pretty tote will be the winner. The squares work up quite fast so it shouldn't take too long. Looks like I may need more time by the pool to finish em up.

Finding myself again

This is my source for inspiration. Living this close to the Gulf of Mexico is truly a blessing. In times when I need to find some quiet time, this is where I go, In times when I need to quiet myself and pray, this is where I go. In times when I need to find inspiration for my art, this is where I go. Listening to the sounds of the beach quiets my way too busy little head.For those that have followed my blog, you have probably noticed that I have been absent for a very long time. It has been both a very long 2 years but then again it also feels like it flew by. Going back to school, working a full time job and balancing a design business has been quite an undertaking. But I am happy to say that it is finally over. I sat for my board exams 2 wks ago and am very happy to say that I passed on the 1st try. It has been months and months of studying and I'm so happy it paid off. The test was 5 hrs and 40 min long and let me tell ya, it felt like it went by in minutes. I have to say that when it was over my brain turned to mush. I couldn't even put a thought together, couldn't even figure out where the car was parked So, guess where I headed? To the beach to watch the sunset and sip some wine and try to get my groove back. It felt so good to be able to not think...So, now that it is over, I am finally back to my art. Wow, did I miss it. I just escape when I am painting. I spent most of the holiday in my studio, painting, drinking lattes and just relaxing big time.

Recently I have been thinking that it would be so cool to spend some alone time in a little beach cottage on the Gulf. Maybe just a week or two. I would love to have a big table to work on that is directly in front of a large window overlooking the water. Think about all the inspiration I can gather, OH heaven..... The seahorse that you see in my new blog header is a watercolor painting that I completed over the weekend, I am currently working on a watercolor sea turtle. Just having a blast and finding myself again.

Christmas Collage Gift Tags

I think homemade gift tags are little works of art. I have always admired them and thought I would give it a try. So, out came the glue stick, antiquing ink and some glitter. I'm wrapping the gifts in white tissue paper with some aqua ribbon and attaching these special gift tags for two of my girlfriends Christmas presents. I think I will have to make some more, they were quite fun to create. The graphics fairy has the most awesome images.

Peppermint Bark

This year I think I am going to make this peppermint and chocolate yummy candy for Christmas gifts. It reminds me of the peppermint mocha lattes at my favorite coffee shop available during the Christmas season. Not to mention it looks pretty darn cute in the shape of a snowflake. A cellophane bag and a sweet little tag is all that is needed for a beautiful presentation.

INGREDIENTS:

1 bag of chocolate chips (any kind you like)

1 bag of white chocolate chips

24 mini candy canes, crushed *do not crush using a food processor – place candy canes in a zip lock bag and use a hammer to crush into small pieces

DIRECTIONS:

Line the bottom of a 9×13 pan with parchment paper. Pour (brown) chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave chocolate chips in increments of 30 seconds stirring the chips each time until chocolate chips have completed melted and mixture is smooth. Spread melted chocolate as evenly as possibly into lined pan. Place pan into freezer for 20 minutes. Repeat the same melting process with the white chips. While chocolate is still smooth, stir in half of the crushed candy cane mixture. Allow the white chocolate to slightly cool for a minute. Remove pan from freezer and spread white chocolate/crushed candy canes mixture on top of the chocolate layer. Spread white chocolate as quickly as possible. Top off with remaining crushed candy cane and gently pat down with the back of a spatula. Return pan to freezer for 20 minutes. Remove from freezer and gently lift the whole mixture from the pan with a butter knife. You should now have a solid sheet of peppermint bark. Remove parchment paper and break into pieces. Store any left over bark in a ziplock bag and place in the freezer. Enjoy!

*if white chocolate chips do not melt smooth, stir in 2 tablespoons of shortening.

Reading For Pleasure

It's been a long time since I've posted anything. I am slowing getting back to a normal routine with a little more free time.

Now that school is finally over maybe I can reclaim my life. I have a tiny bit of time before I start studying for my certification exam and it's feels so good to be able to read novels again instead of text books. Last week I finished James Patterson's, I Alex. His books are a quick read and I was able to relax in the pool and read as well. Did I just say relax? Is that word still in my vocabulary? So, since I read that novel so fast I popped over to the library to see what goodies they had that would intrigue me. Well, intrigue me they did, 6 novels later and I was busy stacking my bedside table. OK, two books were for my husband and four for me. I enjoy the writings of Karen White, I read one of her previous novels, The Memory Of Water. In fact I have that book sitting on my mantle. I like to use books that pertain to the sea or have beachy look as lifts for accessories.

Crochet Shawl Sweater

With the temps on the nippy side here in Florida, my thoughts are turning to warm and cozy sweaters. I still refuse to put a coat on but a fluffy sweater will do me just fine. I figure if I walk really fast from the car I won't be so cold. I love the look of a shawl but wanted some sleeves. I searched and found this little lovely. I think she will be the one...

I think an antique brooch would be perfect to hold the corner in place. I'll have to dig through my Mother's jewelry.

This is the yarn that I have, it has a nice soft feel and I think it will be perfect.

Now, I think it's time to pour a latte, settle into my comfy chair and get this project underway.

Solitary Mug

I love photos that evoke an emotion. This picture is very simple but very moving to me. What I love is the negative space and the part of the picture that is out of my view. I look at this picture and I want to know more. The mystery of what else there is that I can't see. I want to know what kind of tea is in that mug. Is it a breakfast blend or a sleeptime? Is the mug empty or full and awaiting someones return or did someone go off to bed. This is my vision...

Oh my gosh, I saw these bottles and I think my heart went into A Fib. How beautiful are these colors? Beachy for sure. I see them lined up on a window ledge of a beach cottage with the sun shining through them, Stunning and so simple. Oh, I think I just need a minute to compose myself. Random Thoughts

Do you ever just look at a picture and instantly get the warm and fuzzies? I grew up in a field stone house in Pennsylvania. We had two huge porches, one in the front and one that ran across the side. I spent countless hours reading, napping and most importantly daydreaming on those porches. I hatched a lot of life planning decisions on those porches. My first home purchase was also an old stone home, a dutch colonial in the western suburbs of Philadelphia. I have to say that I do miss the stone and also an old home. But living in Florida the stone just doesn't work. It's way to heavy a look for a tropical climate. Looking at this picture just makes me want to grab an over sized cozy sweater, a big mug of latte and look off into the valley and daydream away. I have to admit that I'm having thoughts of the Tennessee area, the Nashville area. I have always loved the state of Tennessee. Who knows, life's a journey....

Candle How-To

1. Fill a rimmed baking sheet or tray with Epsom salts. Coat the entire outside surface of a pillar candle with Mod Podge glue, then roll the coated candle in the salts until fully covered.

2. Set aside to dry (allow several hours), and repeat with remaining candles.

Got Doughnuts

Who knew doughnuts could look so elegant

Ingredients

* 1 container creamy white frosting
* 2 (13-ounce) boxes mini powdered sugar doughnuts or donut holes (recommended: Hostess)
* Green jelly candy mint leaves
* Blue jelly beans

Directions

Special equipment: styrofoam cone and toothpicks

Fill a zip top bag with icing. Snip a small corner of the bag to make a piping bag.

Place the styrofoam cone on a plate and frost with icing. Starting at the base and working up, secure mini doughnuts to the cone with toothpicks. Using the piping bag fill in the gaps between doughnuts with icing.

In the larger gaps between the doughnuts, place candy mint leaves secured with toothpicks and blue jelly beans.

What a cute way to satisfy your sweet tooth

No snow? No problem. Whether you live in a Sun Belt state or a snowy state, your kids can easily build their own mini versions of Frosty.

Ingredients

* Small powdered doughnut
* Powdered doughnut hole
* Decorators' gel

* Pretzel or potato stick
* Haviland Thin Mint
* Reese's peanut butter cup miniature

Instructions

Set a powdered doughnut hole atop a mini powdered doughnut. (For a taller version, use a pretzel stick or a potato stick to secure a second doughnut hole atop the first.)

Use decorators' gel to add a face, buttons, and a carrot nose. (If the gel won't stick, try smoothing the powder with a dab of water first.)

To add a top hat to a shorter snowman, stick a small piece of a pretzel or potato stick through a Haviland Thin Mint and into a Reese's peanut butter cup miniature, then secure the hat in place on the snowman.

Ingredients

3 powdered sugar doughnuts (graduated sizes from 2 to 3 inches if possible)
1 powdered sugar doughnut hole or mini doughnut
5 mini chocolate chips
1 orange-mint Tic Tac
1 piece (10 to 12 inches) "fruit by the foot" fruit roll
3 gumdrops
2 pretzel sticks
1 starlight mint

Directions

On a small plate, stack the three doughnuts to form body of snowman. Place doughnut hole on top for head. Add chocolate chip buttons and eyes and an orange-mint nose.
Make 1-in. cuts on both ends of the fruit roll to form scarf fringe; wrap scarf around neck. Press a gumdrop onto each pretzel to form mittens; press pretzel arms into body. Top with a hat made from a mint and a gumdrop. Yield: 1 snowman.

These little guys were made with marzipan, but looks like doughnut holes would do the trick

Crochet Ruffle Scarf

I love this blue take on the traditional Thanksgiving colors. The blue and copper look fabulous together.

One blue feather sets the stage for this elegant Thanksgiving table setting. I love to see nature incorporated into decor.

I only have to get through the next three days and them I have some time off. The next three days also include a midterm on Wednesday. But every day I am getting closer and school is going by very quickly. Although I am getting very tired of both work and school being full time. What happened to my life? After Wednesday it's time for some serious RR, at least for four days.

Cappuccino Love

I love cappuccino and lattes, it's one of my ways of relaxing and taking a few minutes to breathe. A few of my friends from school will usually stop at SB after class and spend at least an hour sipping our favorite beverage. Mine is a Pumpkin Spice Latte, just love em. When I was in Pa. last month I found instant Pumpkin Spice Cappuccino mix. If you've read previous posts you'll know I came home with several vacuumed sealed bags in my suitcase. Well, I have been plowing through that stash and now it's almost gone. I could just cry, Yup, I love it that much. I have been searching the web trying to find a version that I could make, but to no avail. How hard could it be? I found the recipe below and it is quite good. In fact, I'm sipping some from my leopard print mug right this very minute. I added a little more of the cinnamon and nutmeg and tossed in a dash of pumpkin pie spice. I also put the coffee crystals in a plastic bag and crushed it into a powder. My mug is fairly large so I put in 4 heaping tablespoons. I really think the flavor is very good and it's a lot cheaper than the International Coffee. I hope you'll try this recipe. Here's hoping you find a quite spot and make some time to breathe.

PS I think it would be yummy with vanilla flavored creamer as well. Maybe they make pumpkin spice dry creamer. Now, that would be heaven in a mug. I'll have to check out my local store. They usually have these kind of flavors at this time of the year.

Great holiday gift idea as well.

Ingredients

* 1 cup powdered nondairy creamer
* 1 cup instant chocolate drink mix
* 2/3 cup instant coffee crystals
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions

* Combine all ingredients. Store in an airtight container. To prepare one serving, stir 3 tablespoons mix into 6 oz. hot water. Yield: 3 cups dry mix.

I am in love with this mermaid scarf. I have been searching for a pattern for a crochet scarf and came across this. I think this will have to be my new project. Tomorrow I'll head over to the craft store and figure out what color to make it in. I have to say, I really like this blue. Winter in southwest Florida is very mild but sometimes you just need a little something to ward off the ocean breeze. I could probably use this scarf tonight. We are meeting friends at a waterside restaurant to chill, munch and watch the yachts. I need to chill big time......

I also came home with two big bags of instant pumpkin spice latte. I did get a little worried as my carry on was going through the x-ray machine. My bag paused as the X-ray was being taken and it didn't move. I turned around and saw the furrowed brow of the attendant looking at the screen and viewing the contents of my bag. She just kept looking and then finally my bag was spit out and continued down the line. I guess she was trying to figure out what those bags of beige bricks were. I thought to myself, "don't even ask" for I am a confessed pumpkin addict. Can I just tell you how excited I was when I found instant pumpkin spice latte mix. I was one happy little camper. Yum, Yum. Now I think I'll go have a pumpkin muffin and light my pumpkin candle while I sip my pumpkin latte and cover up with my pumpkin colored throw.

Glow In The Dark Pumpkins

This glow-in-the-dark craft is a perfect way to decorate your house, porch, and windows with glowing pumpkins for Halloween.

Tools and Materials
Funkin (foam pumpkin)
2-inch-wide vinyl tape
Pencil
Scissors
Spray adhesive
Box (large enough to fit funkin)
Mask
Glow-in-the-dark powder
Cookie sheet
Krylon
Fluorescent black light

Glow-in-the-Dark Funkins How-To
1. Cut strips of 2-inch-wide vinyl tape; place strips of tape down on a nonstick surface. Draw face on tape and cut out to create a face sticker. Stick face on pumpkin.

2. Place pumpkin in box; coat with spray adhesive. Remove pumpkin from box and place on cookie sheet. Put glow-in-the-dark powder all over pumpkin. Let dry for about 10 minutes. Repeat the process once more.

3. Spray clear coat of krylon on pumpkin. Let dry for 20 minutes. Peel off sticker face. Add fluorescent black light next to pumpkin to intensify the glow.

My Anatomy and Physiology class is finally finished. My final was today and I was able to maintain my 4.0. I'm a happy girlie!!! So now I can breathe a sigh of relief and not look at a text book for one whole week. When work is finished tonight I am officially on vacation. I'm taking an early flight out and traveling up north to visit family and friends. Yeah, I get to have a life for one whole week.

I feel like my head is lodged in a massive cloud. My brain can't remember anything this week. I'm frustrated, tired and overloaded. This module is over on Friday and it can't come a day too soon. This week I'm having a hard time studying and retaining all the information. All I see are words on paper. I have four systems to remember, a project to present and vitals to be signed off on and to top it off, a final on Friday. The reward will be Fall break and a weeks vacation for me next week. I guess my questions is, where did my brain go? I know I told it we were going on vacation next week but I think the little weasel left a few days early. I sure hope it come back soon, but I'm having doubts that it's going to show up today. I think it told my nervous system to take over because my whole darn body hurts. Boy, don't I sound like alot of fun today. Well, I can only hope it gets better because I still have 8 hrs of work ahead of me. This body won't rest until I hurl myself into bed at midnight, ouch! I hope you guys are having a better day.

Today was the first Monday in three weeks that I feel I'm not looking a freight train in the eye. My A/P class is crammed into four systems a week with a test every Friday. A test with over a 100 questions. Goodness I don't know how I'm doing it and working full time to boot. Maybe the fact that this is my last week of A/P has me breathing a little easier. My final is on Friday, pray that I maintain my 4.0. Now it's off to work for more dreaded fun.....

Bartlett Pears Inspired

I love the muted tones in these pears, brown, dark yellow with a tinge of russet. I am heading back to Pa. this weekend to enjoy a much needed vacation. I hear the temps are in the 60's during the day. I can't wait to see all the fall foliage. Autumn is what I miss the most, since it is my favorite season. But, autumn is too close to winter up north, I absolutely love winters in Florida, in fact I look forward to it. In the summer we find ourselves either at the beach, in the pool or in air conditioning. Winter finds us out and about enjoying the beauty of our state. This weekend we even spent a good bit of time on the lanai. I strung white lights around the gazebo and lit all the candles, we turned on the pool lights and listened to the sound of the fountain while gazing at a full moon. Now, that's what I call relaxing. A new week brings my last week of anatomy and physiology at school and another week of work. I don't know how I am doing it, but I am. Then, off from school and work for a week. I'm catching an early morning flight on Sat. Play time with my girlfriend and SIL. Appletini's are in my future. I'm going to start counting down the hours.

Ok, I know you've all heard the phrase, "You should have known when to stop". I am just finishing up my anatomy and physiology class. I have one more week to go. It's been brutal, a four month course crammed into one month. Learning four system a week has been interesting to say the least. Now, I know my bones, but do I want to look at them while relaxing in my bedroom? What do you think they were thinking? Were they out of artwork and the skeletal system was all they could find. Were they cramming to learn all the bones in one night. Do you think their getting in the Halloween spirit? What the heck were they thinking? Any thoughts??

If they have skeletons in their bedroom I wonder what lurks in the closet.

Normally when I think of orange and black I think of Halloween, but look at what nature provides. A beautiful Monarch butterfly, the perfect orange and black combination and a beautiful sunset with a fiery orange and black sky. It sure made me take a step back and take another look at this combination.

This room just stopped me in my tracks. It shows just how elegant orange can become when used correctly.

I could call this room home. love the zebra print pillows. All I need is a cup of pumpkin spice latte and a good book.

Blue-Footed Booby (Sula Neboxuii)

Boobies received their name by allowing them to be captured while asleep. Boobies are a part of the Sulidae family made up of ten species of long-winged sea birds the size of geese. Their feet are completely webbed including hind toes, not free as in a duck. Boobies live near tropical and subtropical islands around the world, coming ashore only to breed. At sea they can be seen diving from the sky to catch fish.

Named for their blue legs and feet these are the most common and non-descript of the Galapagos Booby. Their natural habitat extends from Peru to Mexico. Young blue-foots look quite similar to adults yet it takes 2 to 3 years to reach their adult plumage of a pale streaked head, dark mantle with white patches on the nape and rump, white bellies and a dark tail. Blue-Footed Boobies nest in colonies. In large colonies there is almost continuous breeding with pairs nesting every 7 to 9 months. They can be seen breeding on most islands north of the equator in the Galapagos.

Could that shade of blue be any prettier? Nature is amazing.

I came across these little boobies while researching Huntington's Disease for a school project. They came up while looking for gene mutations. You never know what you're going to find but I think these boobies are perfect for a Blue Monday.

God is our comfort when things appear bleak. The psalmist is looking ahead and what does he see? He sees deep uncrossable valleys and steep mountains and hills. The terrain is uneven and rough before him. Things look very bad. Do you ever feel that way? Everywhere you look there are obstacles or barriers. It doesn’t seem like there is much hope. But this verse tells us every valley shall be lifted up – every low point in our life will be raised. Every mountain shall be made low – every obstacle in our way will come down. The uneven ground shall become level – the rollercoaster of our life will be calmed. And the rough places a plain – God will smooth out the rough places. God will help us through whatever we have to go through. No matter how bleak things may appear, remember God is our comfort.

How comforting to know that our God will carry us when we are weary.

This has been one very busy week. I'm not getting much sleep, I'm eating in my car as I fly from school to work and last weekend I spent working on a project for school. I'm happy to say the project was turned in and my midterm exam is complete, YEAH!!! So, this weekend I am officially comatose. Total relaxation is the name of the game for the next two days. It's 2PM and I'm still in my jammies, gotta love it. I hear all of you wishing you could do the same. The good news is you can. Make an appointment with yourself and replenish your soul for the upcoming week. You may not be able to take an entire weekend to relax but carve out as much time as you can and take time to breathe. It may only be a few minutes, hours or days. But the important thing to remember is that we owe it to ourselves and the people around us. I know I'll be better for it on Monday when I start the cycle all over again.

This is the book that I picked up at the library the other day. Some of her books I have loved and others I haven't, but this looked like it might be a good one. So, I'm off to make a pumpkin latte and parked myself for a little read. Cheers!

I am totally in love with these coral sconces. Pop a white battery candle in and just admire their beauty. So, my creative self said "I could make these".

and I could make them out of manzanita branches. I'll spray paint the branches a coral red. Then I'll need a base for the candle to sit in. Maybe a large tuna can will do. I'll spray it coral red and then drill out a hole for the screw to secure it to the wall. I think I have a plan. All I need is some free time. Can anyone lend me a few?

Now, what was I saying in the previous post about not having any time with school, work, homework, studying, wash, cleaning, etc. Well, you get the picture. Sleep, maybe I don't need it????? Oh, yeah, I need it. I just remembered, napping is my favorite past time.

Thought For The Day. things that I am learning

Life seems to be all about swaying in the wind, Standing tall but being flexible enough to withstand the storms. It is also about being able to reinvent yourself at any age and at any time. Sometimes life gives you time to plan for those changes and sometimes they come in a split second. Sometimes in the darkest of days you are able to see the clearest. Sometimes the dark days linger and make you go deeper within yourself to find those answers. I have learned much more about myself when faced with those challenges then I have when everything is running smoothly. Now, don't get me wrong, I really like it when things are running smoothly and everything is easy. But, let's face it, it's not life. Life is all about hills and valleys, straight and winding and sometimes just plain swinging sideways and hanging on by your teeth. But, what I am learning is that the rainbow can always be found in the end. Sometime you have to make your own rainbow. It may not look like everyone else' s rainbow, but it is uniquely yours. Nobody can take away your rainbow unless you give it away or allow someone to take it from you,

This is going to be my last full week of having any free time. I am going back to school full time and working full time. It is really going to be hard to fit in any creative time. But in the end I will be capturing another rainbow.

I am going to try very hard to post to my friends here in blogland as much as I can, but there are only so many hours in the day. I continue to hope that your rainbow is bright and shining without a dimmer in sight.

Spending the day at St Amands Circle will be the recipe for the day. Lots of shopping, laughing and just plan having fun with family. I think I'll sneak a latte into the mix or maybe a frappe.

St Armands Circle is in Sarasota, Fl and just off Lido Beach. Beautiful boutiques, restaurants and galleries are just some of the features of this area. I love to just sit, sip and people watch. The restaurants and shops are all pet friendly. LOVE THAT!!! I meet the most interesting people just by stopping a giving a pet to the pooches. It's not unusual for someone to strike up a conversation with you and before you know it they invite you to join their table.

I love the outdoor dining. I get to eat, drink and watch people all at the same time

What Are The Chances

What are the chances of two central air conditioners breaking within two days of each other in both of your homes? I guess it would be 100% in my case. We have family staying at our island house and yep you guessed it. The day they arrived the air conditioner took it's final breath. So with much work we selected a new unit which will be installed this week. Living on an island in Florida and with no air, can I tell you how hot it is? So, the family has been coming to our house to cool off and swim in the pool. So, I get up this morning and think that it's mighty hot in my house. OK, why am I so hot? Let's take a look at the thermostat. It's says 85, how can that be right? Well, guess what? It was right, it's Broken..... So, I have some decisions to make after I made all of my phone calls.

I could stick my head in the freezer on and off for the rest of the day

or find a bucket and sit in it for the rest of the day

I could jump in the lake for the rest of the day

or submerge myself in the pool when it's not raining

Now, this got me thinking. I have two lawn mowers in the garage.

Thrifty Finds

I love to go to thrift stores and look for interesting items to decorate with. I recently found this darling little layered dress, vintage straw hat, and beautiful straw tote with crocheted flowers. I immediately knew that I wanted to display them. I think it's perfect for a summertime display.

I have been collecting vintage picnic baskets. This is my most recent find and probably my favorite so far. It is quite large and has leather handles and straps. The thermos and picnic items are intact. I have it displayed on the top of my dresser with more beachy finds.

Visit Apartment Therapy and see how this brass lamp (usually destined for spray paint) was revived using an inexpensive product called Blue Magic Polishing Cream and found in the automotive department.

Cross Stitching On A Saturday Afternoon

I loved the art work of Marjolein Bastin the first time I laid eyes on it. It was a perfect fit for my love of nature. At the time I was doing cross stitch like crazy. I have a huge basket of completed projects to show for it. It was my way of relaxing and keeping my hands busy while I watched all the design shows on TV. I probably cross stitched all of her patterns. I almost sold them when I moved and have thought about selling them on etsy. But, I have still hung on to them. It has been awhile since I have done any needlework. I guess moving four times in two years didn't allow me enough time and heck I didn't even know where they were. I think I may have them in a box in the garage. So, guess where I'm heading? I'm going to spend the afternoon cross stitching and drinking tea and them maybe read a book. Doesn't it sound like the perfect lazy day? How are you spending a lazy day these days?

This is the pattern that I am working on now. The top half is completed and I am working the bottom of the bench.

Foodie Friday Strawberry Bruschetta

Bruschetta With Strawberries and Mascarpone Cheese

1 baguette, thinly sliced on an angle
3 tablespoons butter at room temperature
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup (120g) mascarpone cheese
1 pint (300g) strawberries, washed, dried, and sliced

1. Butter one side of each slice of bread. Mix together cinnamon and sugar, and sprinkle on top of the butter. Place the bread, cinnamon and sugar side down, in a nonstick skillet set over medium heat. Watch them carefully to ensure the sugar doesn’t burn. Remove from pan when the cinnamon and sugar caramelizes. Allow to cool slightly on a cooling rack.

2. Spread each cinnamon toast with 2-3 teaspoons of mascarpone cheese. Garnish with 3 slices of strawberries.
