I came across this South African company that produces beautiful botanical ceramics. I love the simple, timeless lines of their pieces.
Ento Ceramics was established by Dr Tanza Crouch, artist and professional entomologist (someone who studies and applies their knowledge of insects). The beauty of bugs and their extraordinary diversity provide never-ending inspiration for patterns and design in art. We share the Earth with these creatures and need each other for our long-term survival. As a reminder, ENTO Ceramics strives to bring nature into your home, through durable images on porcelain and china. She is currently using Maxwell & Williams as a base for her designs. Take pleasure in using these products, which are dishwasher and microwave safe. |
All the images appearing on the tableware were inspired by South African plants, beetles, butterflies, wasps, bees and dragonflies. There are 50 000 named species of insects and 20 000 plnats in our region to choose from. The rich designs and the mass of color and pattern are a celebration of this enormous diversity. |
Each ceramic item is unique - Tanza arranges all of her designs by hand, ensuring that no two pieces are alike. She works from her studio in an indigenous garden in the leafy suburb of Kloof, KwaZulu-Natal. |
Till next time, Happy Decorating

What a beautiful butterfly tea pot. Thanks for sharing with us. Bless you.
Kathleen, What an adorable set of Ceramic dishes! I love nature and the little black and white dishes are so great because they can be mixed with varied colors! I love it! ~ CC Catherine ;)
I am afraid of all bugs--even butterflies, so I'll pass on this.
Really pretty! Thanks for sharing!
I loved everything. Butterflies and dragonflies are so special. Thanks for sharing. Your blog is always a treat. Wish you were my neighbor. We share so much in common.
What a great way to combine the Dr.'s talent! They are simple and pretty, except maybe the beetles.
Thanks for stopping by. I am always happy to meet a fellow Floridian. Yes I love my lanai, although this winter we sure had more than a few days when it was cold out there! These insect dishes are great. Michele Obama has a bug and flower patterned service for the White House that is lovely. Cheers! Don't be a stranger..
I love using elements of nature on a table. Great find.
What beautiful pieces, I have just received a lovely set of black cut-out table mats with butterflies and insects, those would go perfect with them. Kathy.
beautiful! Happy Tablescape Thursday ~ Susan
Wow, those are just beautiful!
Not too sure about the beetle...but the dragonflies and other winged little beasties are really lovely -- sculptural in their look.
After all, Herend has been doing insects on its porcelain for centuries!
But -- you have Cavaliers! I see two tricolors and a Blenheim... which is what we used to have, also. Now I have two Blenheims, and they were part of my Thursday Tablescape post, too. They are simply the best dogs, aren't they?
Best wishes to you and your 4-legged pals... Cass
These ceramics are wonderful! I love the dragonflies! Anything nature-inspired is so "hot" right now. Love the black and white too.
Oooo - I love fireflys! Those are gorgeous - thanks for sharing Kathleen! :)
These dishes are cute! I can see them mixed in with other patterns to create differnet looks. Thanks for sharing.
