Coastal Kitchen Inspiration

I am meeting with a new client tonight to discuss redesigning his condo kitchen. His home is on the island, so I'm excited to get started. I was going over some of my past designs and thinking what direction this project will take in terms of style. Will it be sleek and contemporary or modern coastal. I love working on kitchens and baths. There are so many design options available. I can't wait to get started.

I thought I would share some coastal kitchen designs that I came across as I was thinking about this project. The color of our water is truly the colors that you see in these pictures. I hope you enjoy your mini coastal vacation.

Soft pale blue cabinets and brushed nickel, a marriage made in heaven.

Crisp white cabinets with watery blue glass tile back splash.
I love glass tile

Nautical blue cabinets, yellow accents, stainless steel and a bead board back splash

Creamy white cabinets, blue and white checkerboard tile back splash and a blue Aga stove.
So, I'm off to grab all of my kitchen design books and hit the road. I'll let you know what style direction we will take. I love them all!
Till next time, Happy Decorating

NATURES INSPIRATION

Eco-Awareness is the buzz word in the design world. The environment is on everyones mind when choosing materials and products. It's only natural that nature continues to be the inspiration behind the color palette for 2009.

Neutrals are always in style, but the most directional color for 2009 is gray. It is said that in times of uncertainty, there is a renewed respect for permanence. Think of the grey tones in an ancient structure or an old sculpture. Cool, neutral grays and gray beiges (greige), as well as complex neutrals. Gray is replacing black and brown as we continue forward in 2009.
