Pretty, simple, quick and inexpensive napkin rings to grace your Spring table. Video instructions at end of post.
Step 1
Cut your tissue paper into 4 sheets of 5” x 7” rectangles, one yellow sheet and three white. Then stack all of the sheets together with the yellow piece on top.
Step 2
Fold all of your sheets together, accordion style, at every 3/4", so you will end up folding roughly 10 times. When you finish you should have a 3/4" x 5" strip.
Step 3
Trim the ends of your strip into triangle shapes.
Step 4
Cut 4" of embroidery floss and tie in a simple knot around the center of your folded tissue paper.
Step 5
Fan the sides of your tissue paper out around the embroidery floss. You will start to see the flower take shape, first looking a bit like bowtie pasta, and then you'll be able to meet both sides to form a circle. If you have a hard time getting them to meet and stay together, you can cheat them closed with a small piece of tape.
Step 6
Separate the yellow layer of tissue paper by carefully pinching it away from the white tissue paper. Keep pinching and separating the piece until the yellow layer stands up, like the center of a daffodil.
Step 7
Tie your flower to your ribbon, using the ends of your embroidery floss.
Step 8
Tie your ribbon around your napkin rings, lay them out on your table, and see what kind of shindig sprouts up
